Bodog Poker Full Review
Game Variety, Limits, and Traffic: B-
Bodog offers 6 different games: Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7
Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, and 5 Card Stud. Bodog offers a great mix of
full and short-handed tables that never seem to be empty. Stakes range
from $.05/$.10 to $10/$20 in No Limit Hold'em and $.05/$.10 to $50/$100 in
Fixed Limit. Bodog is growing at an extremely fast rate, adding a casino
to its sportsbook in 1999 and a poker room in 2004. Since 2004, Bodog has
grown to about 2000 ring game players and 3000 tournament players at peak
hours. The new software "upgrade" has recently driven away more than 30%
of Bodog's players. However, the sportsbook continues to funnel easy
competition into the site.
Software: C
Bodog has recently "upgraded" its software (January 2006). Although it
added many new features, the software took a dive from possibly the simplest
and cleanest to the most complicated and non-functional. The biggest mistake
in the upgrade was there attempt to make a mini-view while multitabling. After
opening more than one table (max 3), the second and third tables go into a side
panel that shows only basic information of the table. This loss of information
makes it nearly impossible to follow the real action of the table. There is
also no image of the table, which is a real minus. On the upside, Bodog
allows you take notes and change the background color. Personalized images
are allowed and a tool that allows you to see your folded cards lets you
reminisce in what could have been. Since the upgrade the software has had
unstable times; however, Bodog is working very hard to fix these problems
and have since made leaps and bounds. A huge plus for Bodog is the fact
that you can sportsbet and play poker from the same account. Bodog has the
best lines online and serves as a great add-on for poker players.
Softness of Games: A
Bodog is one of the softest games online mainly because of the traffic
brought in by its online sportsbook and casino. This easy money floods in
by the boatloads as these players frequent all stakes games online,
especially the mid and high stakes games where they get eaten alive.
The software upgrade has also helped the games get softer as the players
who were driven away were the experienced sharks who became disgruntled by
the software. Another huge eV booster is the fact that many of the
tournaments do not get anywhere near their guarantees, especially the
Sunday Guaranteed. Every single one is short and Bodog ends up making
up the difference out of pocket. The tournaments are highly recommend
as the quality of players is low and the added money to every prize pool
help pad your pocket.
Promotions: B
Bodog does not offer many sponsored promotions. The constant reload bonus
is a fine boost. Although its not a huge bonus, it is easy to clear even at
low stakes. Perhaps the best promotions are their guaranteed tournaments that
never even get close. Currently, every $100,000 guaranteed weekly tournament
ends up about $30,000 short. Feel free to have a try at a $30,000 promotion
every week.
Deposits/Withdrawals: A
Bodog takes deposits from NETeller, FirePay, Credit Cards, Checks,
myCitadel, Bank Drafts, and CentralCoin. Cashouts are made to NETeller,
Checks, and e-checks. The cashout times are quick, with NETeller cashouts
averaging about 1 hour.
Support: A+
Bodog offers among the best support in the industry. They offer 24/7
phone services and constant email support who will normally answer within
minutes.
